Self image affirmations ( Courtesy: Coaching academy)

Self-image is the mental picture we have of ourselves, simply put it’s our own opinion and view of who we are. This internal image is often a combination of our physical attributes, such as our height, weight, hair colour, etc., as well as the parts of our identity that we have learned. These learnt factors can consist of attributes that have discovered ourselves through personal experiences or by internalising the judgments of others.
Our self-image includes:
- What you think you look like
- How you perceive your personality
- The kind of person you believe you are
- What you believe others think of you
- The status you feel you have
- How well liked you are (both by yourself and your perception of how much others like you).
These different factors interweave to create your overall sense of self. As such, our self-image is important as it often directly related to our self-esteem and self-confidence. This is because if the image of how you see yourself and how you believe others see you is low, it can be difficult to believe in your worth. It is important to nurture your self-image by surrounding yourself with people who lift you up and internally with self-care. One great way to do this is through reciting positive statements or affirmations each day. Daily affirmations are a great way to boost a positive self-image as they reinforce and motivate a desired situation and goal.
Here are 10 daily affirmations to build a positive self-image:
1. I am capable and smart.
2. I believe in myself.
3. I surround myself with people who bring out the best in me.
4. I love who I have become.
5. I am on a journey of self-growth and love.
6. My thoughts, words and actions are all aligned for me to be my authentic self.
7. I acknowledge my own self-worth.
8. I deserve the love I give myself.
9. I will continue to learn and grow.
10. I wear a backpack of self-belief every day.
These powerful affirmations will remind you each day of your worth and arm you with the language to help you thrive. You can recite them all, choose the specific affirmations which resonate with you the most or create your own to repeat daily. In doing so, you will reinforce a positive and healthy self-image, which will allow your self-confidence and worth to grow.

Beat the Blues - Monday Motivation The Elephant and the Invisible Rope

A man was passing the elephants. He suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg.No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not
He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away.“Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them.As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”
The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before? We believe we cannot as society tells us we cannot..And that becomes our Limiting belief!!!!

The Mighty Elephant here represents our Mind. The Bondages represent our limiting beliefs. Our Mind if it decides can breakthrough any limiting beliefs.Just like how the mighty elephant can break the rope and free itself out

You are only limited by the beliefs in your mind

Soar Like an Eagle - Monday Motivation

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks?

The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it.

The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm.

When the storms of life come upon us – and all of us will experience them – we can rise above them by setting our minds and our belief toward God. The storms do not have to overcome us. We can allow God’s power to lift us above them.

God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that bring sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment in our lives. We can soar above the storm.

Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down, it is how we handle them.

Management Lessons : Negotiation

A father left 17 Camels as an Asset for his Three Sons.

When the Father passed away, his sons opened up the will.

The Will of the Father stated that the Eldest son should get Half of 17 Camels,

The Middle Son should be given 1/3rd of 17 Camels,

Youngest Son should be given 1/9th of the 17 Camels,

As it is not possible to divide 17 into half or 17 by 3 or 17 by 9, the sons started to fight with each other.

So, they decided to go to a wise man.

The wise man listened patiently about the Will. The wise man, after giving this thought, brought one camel of his own & added the same to 17. That increased the total to 18 camels.

Now, he started reading the deceased father’s will.

Half of 18 = 9.
So he gave 9 camels
to the eldest son.

1/3rd of 18 = 6.
So he gave 6 camels
to the middle son.

1/9th of 18 = 2.
So he gave 2 camels
to the youngest son.

Now add this up:
9 + 6 + 2 = 17 &
This leaves 1 camel,
which the wise man took back.

MORAL: The attitude of negotiation & problem solving is to find the 18th camel i.e. the common ground. Once a person is able to find the common ground, the issue is resolved. It is difficult at times.

However, to reach a solution, the first step is to believe that there is a solution. If we think that there is no solution, we won’t be able to reach any!

If you liked this story,  please share with all. You might spark a thought, inspire & possibly change a life forever!

How to Avoid Loneliness When You Work Entirely from Home ( Post Courtsey : Harvard Business Review)

Post Courtesy Harvard Business Review
by Dorie Clark

Working from home can be a coveted perk, allowing you to opt out of rush-hour traffic and eliminate the tedious banalities of office life. But it can also cut you off from the spontaneous interactions that can spark new insights (part of the reason Marissa Mayer famously rescinded Yahoo’s telecommuting policies). And, at times, the solitude may lead to isolation or the feeling that you’re left out at work.
How can you combat loneliness and create positive relationships with colleagues when you work from home full-time? I’ve worked from home since 2006, when I launched my consulting and speaking business. Here are three principles I’ve found to be effective in staving off isolation, maintaining productivity, and surrounding oneself with a stimulating cadre of colleagues.
First, since you’re not physically interacting with coworkers, it’s important to seek out an online community of like-minded practitioners. The technology changes over time — when I first launched my business, I participated regularly in an online forum for solo consultants; today I maintain an active Facebook community for participants in my “Recognized Expert” online course. These discussion groups allow you to share successes and challenges and ask sensitive questions that, especially because participants are geographically dispersed, can be answered honestly and without feelings of competition.
Second, it’s especially useful for at-home workers to leverage video technology. Instead of phone calls, I’ll almost always book Skype or Zoom meetings so that I can see the other person. This helps me read their body language, ensures they’re more likely to remember and recognize me (if we don’t know each other well already), and provides me with a facsimile of in-person interaction. I’m admittedly an introvert, but at the end of a day filled with video calls, I’m often socially exhausted and need downtime, just as I would after a round of in-person meetings — so I think it’s doing the trick.
Depending on your preferences, it can be useful to track whether you prefer scheduling a smaller number of daily video interactions with clients and colleagues (a “minimum effective dose”) or instead want to cluster them on the same day. The latter will allow for larger blocks of creative time on the days when you’re not in meetings (as I describe in this post on scheduling meetings when you’re self-employed).
Finally, make a concerted effort to learn more about the personal lives of your colleagues. When you work from home, there’s a natural tendency to avoid “wasting time” with small talk; it may seem like a better move to focus exclusively on work-related conversations. But that may be a mistake.
As eminent psychologist Robert Cialdini told me, small talk may seem trivial, but it’s actually the cement that creates rapport. “A weakness of Americans,” he says, “is that we tend not to do what is done in many other cultures — spending sociable time interacting with other people so there is a context of commonality recognized by both parties, so subsequent interactions go more smoothly.” Indeed, he cites research showing that when two groups of MBA students who didn’t know each other were asked to perform a negotiation over email, 55% of those who were told to “get straight down to business” made a deal. Meanwhile, a full 90% of those who were encouraged to share personal information and find commonalities with one another beforehand were able to strike one, and their deals were 18% more beneficial to both parties. That’s because, as Cialdini’s research shows, someone is far more persuasive to you when you like them — and knowing more about them and how you’re similar often hastens that process.
So before a meeting starts, ask your colleagues about their recent vacation, their daughter’s sports matches, or their upcoming nuptials. These small details can create bonds that enable you to build deeper relationships that are both personally gratifying and professionally beneficial.
A bit of loneliness may seem like an unavoidable trade-off when you work from home, away from the buzz of the office. (Though it’s important to note that not all social interactions have to be with humans: A studyjointly run by NPR, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health revealed that 87% of those who reported experiencing “a great deal of stress” in the past month were able to reduce it effectively by spending time with a pet, which may be even easier to accomplish when working from home.)
But by following these strategies, you can ensure you’re forming meaningful connections with like-minded colleagues, even if you’re not face-to-face with them every day.

Lessons in Leadership - Stories from Mahabharata

By Ashwini Chube
Do you know- Arjuna’s Chariot bursts into flames at the conclusion of the war?

After the war was over Sri Krishna asked Arjuna to take down the Gandiva(his bow) and get off from the Chariot, as this is for his good only. Arjuna did as he was directed. After this lord Sri Krishna abandoned the reins of the horses and dismounted himself from the chariot as well. After Sri Krishna had dismounted from that chariot, lord Hanuman that topped the mantle of Arjuna’s vehicle, disappeared there and then. The top of the vehicle, which had before been burnt by Drona and Karna with their celestial weapons, the chariot with its quick pairs of steeds, yoke, and shaft, fell down, and reduced to ashes. Arjuna was amazed with this sight and with folded hands he asked Sri Krishna on why the chariot has been consumed by fire.
Sri Krishna said that the chariot was consumed by diverse kinds of weapons. It was because He had sat upon it during battle that it did not fall into pieces, previously consumed by the energy of brahmastra, it has been reduced to ashes upon his abandoning it.The Chariot was saved only because of the presence and grace of Sri Krishna.

Have you ever had a leader, a boss or a mentor who actually shielded you or guided you? Or are you the boss who takes care of their staff  and guides them on their professional journey?
A leader is someone who guides the team, trains them, takes them on the right path, shows the way and shields the team. This is a very profound term. Here by shielding what I mean to say is standing by the team and thinking about the employees rather than himself.

In the 2008 crisis when the american investment bank Morgan Stanley was saved by 1 decision of the then CEO - John Mack  thus his name being engraved in history creating strong footprints in the hearts of every employee ( including me ofcourse - as I was a part of the esteemed bank then).
Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Japan's largest bank, invested $9 billion in Morgan Stanley on September 29, 2008 and Morgan Stanley was saved under the leadership of John Mack. Thus many employees could have lost their jobs if hadnt been a strategic decision of Mack to involve Mitsubishi in the deal. This is a classic example of thinking at  a big picture level

This represented the single largest physical check signed, delivered and cashed. Concerns over the completion of the Mitsubishi deal during the October 2008 stock market volatility caused a dramatic fall in Morgan Stanley's stock price It recovered once Mitsubishi UFJ's 21% stake in Morgan Stanley was completed on October 14, 2008

A Leader is the one who creates more leaders..who isnt insecure of others success
A leader shows you the way and warns you against potential dangers

Have you ever met such leader?

Why all managers are not leaders?

By Deepti Prabhupatkar

Worth giving a thought as to what extra skills make leaders. There is a lot written about the differences on web. However, the below mentioned points are out of personal experiences and views of my colleagues.
In this article I will be writing about few points on the qualities that make people call their managers as leaders
·         Building good rapport with team members- This includes not only with his/her leadership team but also with the juniors of the team. This builds in more confidence in minds of people to approach the leader directly without any hesitation
·         Successfully resolving conflicts – This is an art. Leaders do it with a pure motive of solving the issue. The leader is completely unbiased, a good listener (of both the concerned parties), shows genuine interest and takes relevant actions. Follow up, taking feedback from other team members, understanding the reason behind the problem are some of the key actions taken by the leader
·         Open for feedback - Leaders are open for feedbacks from the team irrespective of the hierarchy.  An anonymous 360 (degree) periodic feedback is considered as an important factor for running the team smoothly, by the leader. This task also involves taking appropriate actions on issues if any
·         Providing feedbacks to motivate – Leaders provide feedbacks to people in such a manner which can get the best out them (individual/team/receiver of the feedback). They are aware of the fact that each person is different and has to be dealt with differently and hence, same formula does not work for all
Having positive approach towards work and life, joining the team for lunch/snacks whenever possible, informal short chats are few other characteristics observed
The above mentioned points are very easy to inculcate as they are very practical and professional

Signs from the Universe

How to identify signs from Universe
Many people ask me
What do I mean by signs ?
How do you identify signs from the universe ?
How do I read this details? also is it my mind making up ?what is it the truth?
We must have read and heard it countless times - Universe will show you the way or Universe will guide you- What does that mean?
Well - so let me tell you - universe is not some dude who will ring at your doorbell and say that” hi I’m universe and I am doing this”
So how do we do that

So how will you identify it
Well let me put it to you .Please note that universe will communicate to you through
1) People’s situations and other different forms.
2)You need to decode - pay special attention.
3)You could read the Read between the lines
4)Co relate it to questions who may ask through different senses like visuals ,sounds, thoughts etc

Here are a few examples
1. Road signs:
Sometimes road signs that come at the apt time convey the right message. I remember I was contemplating a job offer once and was asking the universe to give me a sign. I kept seeing no - don’t proceed- danger zone messages everywhere. I followed my intuition and told the company a big No and did not take that offer. Guess what - the team shut down in 2 months and left everyone jobless
2. Messages
The messages you get in form of emails (even the spam ones) can guide you. I was about to take a certain important decision in my life in 2012. My heart said no but my head was saying a yes. Most friends family kept telling me to go for it but my heart kept saying there was something not correct. I asked the universe to guide me. 2 days later I got a message in my junk email folder which caught my attention. It was written “ Read this before you take the most important decision of your life. Avoid the current situation “ I opened it to see it was a junk e-mail about some call centre jobs. However the title made absolute sense to me. Without having any sufficient reason I finally did not go for it. 2 months later we came to know that the person concerned was a fraud!
3. Social media
Many times a message on social media just fits in what you would like to know.A daily whatsapp message from a group you are following or a quote on facebook couldgive you the answer you are seeking.I remember exactly 2 months ago I was feeling stuck in life inspite of working on myself for a very long time.I asked the universe to give me signs and to guide me to the right path.A couple of days later onwards I started seeing posts on social media regarding decluttering and Feng shui.I realised I needed to declutter my house big time.I removed and dumped atleast 7-8 bags of clutter.Within a few weeks my business my life everything started moving for better. I realised I just did my work as per Universe's advice reading between the lines.
4. Overhearing talks
Sometimes you may hear someone talking about something Know that the conversation isnt a coincidence. Once I was asking the universe for help with helping a friend recover from illness. The same day me and my friend heard someone talking about Homeopathy medicines and how they helped them while we were travelling in the train. We took it as a sign and guess what my friend saw a homeopath the next day.She recovered in exactly a week and is so much better now
5. Songs
Music is the language of Universe.Sometimes a song could be a message from a loved one or even from the Universe.I remember when I got an offer letter for my first job - the radio was playing a song which meant " you can achieve anything you want..you deserve the best"
6. Names of people
Has it ever happened - that you are thinking about someone and you see their name? It means they are thinking about you too.Dont be surprised if you get a call from them the same day.It is Universe's way of telling you - you are connected
7. Numbers
One of the best ways through which Universe talks is through number sequences. Eg :111, 222,1234 etc.We ll be talking about them in detail in another post
8. Look alikes:
This one is my favourite and what In call as deja vu.Sometimes you meet someone who may look like a friend or family .Typically it is universe telling you that they may be thinking about you or you may meet them the same day. We all are connected eventually

Well know that we all are connected by the divine force of the universe- we all are one.Because Universe cant directly talk to you - it gives you the above signs .There could be many more signs- I have here summarised just the basic ones I experienced.

Most important- Dont analyse or ask why and how.Dont go rationalising these signs.Universe doesnt understand logic - it is only about magic.Go step by step with the universe and see the miracle!!

Quick Management Stories : Team Support

Charles Plumb was a US Navy jet pilot in Vietnam. After 75 combat missions, his plane was destroyed by a surface-to-air missile.  Plumb ejected and parachuted into enemy hands.  He was captured and spent 6 years in a communist Vietnamese prison.  He survived the ordeal and now lectures on lessons learned from that experience!
One day, when Plumb and his wife were sitting in a restaurant, a man at another table came up and said, ' You're Plumb! You flew jet fighters in Vietnam from the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk. You were shot down! 'How in the world did you know that?' asked Plumb. 'I packed your parachute,' the man replied.  Plumb gasped in surprise and gratitude.  The man pumped his hand and said, 'I guess it worked!'  Plumb assured him, 'It sure did. If your chute hadn't worked, I wouldn't be here today.'
Plumb couldn't sleep that night, thinking about that man.  Plumb says, 'I kept wondering what he had looked like in a Navy uniform: a white hat; a bib in the back; and bell-bottom trousers.  I wonder how many times I might have seen him and not even said 'Good morning, how are you?' or anything because, you see, I was a fighter pilot and he was just a sailor.'
Plumb thought of the many hours the sailor had spent at a long wooden table in the bowels of the ship, carefully weaving the shrouds and folding the silks of each chute, holding in his hands each time the fate of someone he didn't know.
Now, Plumb asks his audience, 'Who's packing your parachute?' Everyone has someone who provides what they need to make it through the day.  He also points out that he needed many kinds of parachutes when his plane was shot down over enemy territory - he needed his physical parachute, his mental parachute, his emotional parachute, and his spiritual parachute.  He called on all these supports before reaching safety.
Sometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us, we miss what is really important. We may fail to say hello, please, or thank you, congratulate someone on something wonderful that has happened to them, give a compliment, or just do something nice for no reason.  As you go through this week, this month, this year, recognise people who pack your parachutes.
I am sending you this as my way of thanking you for your part in packing my parachute.  And I hope you will send it on to those who have helped pack yours! Sometimes, we wonder why friends keep forwarding jokes to us without writing a word. Maybe this could explain it!  When you are very busy, but still want to keep in touch, guess what you do - you forward jokes.
And to let you know that you are still remembered, you are still important, you are still loved, you are still cared for, guess what you get?  A forwarded joke.  So my friend, next time when you get a joke, don't think that you've been sent just another forwarded joke, but that you've been thought of today and your friend on the other end of your computer wanted to send you a smile, just helping you pack your parachute.

Quick Management Stories : Teamwork

Two brothers worked together on the family farm. One was married and had a large family. The other was single. At the day’s end, the brothers shared everything equally, produce and profit.

Then one day the single brother said to himself, “It’s not right that we should share equally the produce and the profit. I’m alone and my needs are simple.” So each night he took a sack of grain from his bin and crept across the field between their houses, dumping it into his brother’s bin.

Meanwhile, the married brother said to himself, “It’s not right that we should share the produce and the profit equally. After all, I’m married and I have my wife to look after me and my children for years to come. My brother has no one, and no one to take care of his future.” So each night he, too, took a sack of grain and dumped it into his single brother’s bin.

Both men were puzzled for years because their supply of grain never dwindled. Then one dark night, the two brothers bumped into each other. Slowly it dawned on the them what was happening. They dropped their sacks and embraced one another.

Teamwork is a win-win when its members are thinking about each other first. The teammate who gives credit to others often becomes credible. The teammate who serves another often becomes especially liked. And the teammate who always thinks of others first becomes loved.
